About Rachel Kaneakua

Rachel with Ruby and Ryder.

Born and raised on the beautiful island of Oahu, Hawaii where I first fell in love with the outdoors, to Napa Valley where I once again became aesthetically enchanted with my surroundings, it was inevitable that the career path I chose would have to involve getting outside every day. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree and on track to obtain an MD, there had been something that I felt was missing. Working in hospitality through college and becoming a dog mom to Ruby and Ryder, I saw a real need for dog care services in Napa. While I would be hard at work I wished that I had the time to give my dogs more attention. More importantly, I knew that they craved more time with me too. Whether it was coming home to a chewed up shoe or an accident on the floor the dogs were telling me they needed more.

AH HAH!!! A light bulb went off inside my head and I realized that in a valley full of individuals working in hospitality, surely I wasn’t the only one with a pet at home needing more exercise and attention on a daily basis. Throwing myself into studying the behaviors of animals and realizing just how important socialization and exercise is to a dog’s quality of life, I was inspired to start this business. Paws Out allows me the opportunity not only to work outside every day but also to make a positive impact on the quality of not just mine, but your pet’s life too!
